How to get somone to stop being obbsesed with cars 0_o?

Well, my dad is like emotionally obbsesed with cars. For example last year we saved up over 2,000 to go on vacation. we saved for like 3 years. The day we get it cashed in, My dad buys a new moater and windows for the car. i mean sure his cars are cool their like 1966 cougars and tempistes or whatever but it ruins my life. i cant even get a basketball hoop because hes afraid ill break the window with the basketball. If he can Collexct cars as a hobbie i can play basketball. Am i wrong? We have 6 cars and no room for them.

3 trucks

66' Tempiest

66 cougar

67 Gto

How can i get him to not be so obbsesed??

You should try to enjoy the cars and learn about them. They are a visceral connection to an era of America he feels is slipping away. He probably sees them as very legitimately rare and valuable collectibles that can easily triple in value in 10-20 years. And they are priceless if one can have such a machine and afford to really drive it and use it as a passenger car.

Has someone passed away in the family, such as a grandfather or uncle, that used to own the cars or similar vehicles? Perhaps he is coping with a loss and this is his way to deal with grieving.

Show him some respect and play basketball somewhere else. Invite him to play ball with you or do other sports. Talk to your mother or other close family about the spending problem, and do not confront your father about his spending. If it was money that you (and other members) contributed expressly for a vacation, then he should feel guilty. But if it was his own money, you have no right to object, even if you feel inconvenienced by his choice to spend it elsewhere.

Unfortunately you can't really change people. But you can let him know how his behavior makes you feel. If you feel like you're wants are less important than his, let him know it.
