How reliable would an older car like an 1973 Dodge Charger or others alike be?

Looking for a first car and was thinking of getting an older, faster one but don't know if a car like that would beak down all the time with out alot of time in the shop. I know things to look for in buying the car but not to well.

It totally depends on it's condition, and whether it's been properly maintained, and whether it will continue to be.

Theoretically, any car could last forever if properly maintained.
if you take care of it it will be very reliable. Those older chargers are pricy! 10,000 just for the frame of the car. And theres hardly any left because they were all wrecked making the show The Dukes Of Hazzard.
Then you know how thirsty these monsters are, and that they are significantly less safe than more modern vehicles. Speed is not what you need, and you're right, it would need quite considerable maintenance. It's not economic UNLESS you're a DIY freak. It will just bankrupt you. I suggest something more modest, safer and lighter, or a Volvo 240-which will have it's own problems, but will do better at keeping you alive.
