The trunk doesn't open with the key in the key hole or the trunk release pully inside my car. I'm new to the area ( Puyallup, WA) and have no idea where is the best place to get my car fix. I would like to get this done as soon as possible, please help me!
I got my car shipped across country and now my trunk door is broken. How much would it cost to get it fix?
Before taking it in, have you sprayed graphite in the lock and tried again? Have you sprayed wd-40 under the edge of the trunk around the latch, pushing that little straw under the rubber to get the spray on the mechanism? Or, if your back seat folds down for a pass-through, slide into the trunk to spray the mechanism more accurately. Try that before anything else. If that doesn't work any dealer or body shop can probably fix it pretty quickly.

Take it to the dealer in that area.

What is difference between driving a petrol car and a diesel one?
I have been driving a petrol car for a long time, and now I have got a diesel car. When I asked between the difference between the two, the car dealer went into lengthy discussions about how the engine technology is different. I am not interested in knowing that. I want to know how it will be different for me as a driver. What care specfic to diesel car I need to take while driving?
What is difference between driving a petrol car and a diesel one?
A diesel drives pretty much the same as a petrol car except for the fact that it has a lot more torque. Other than that, the maintenance schedule is a little different, and you have to let the glow plugs warm up on cold mornings (an indicator light on the dash will tell you when it is safe to start the car). Plus, a vehicle with a diesel engine typically gets better gas mileage, and lasts a lot longer than its petrol counterpart.
What is difference between driving a petrol car and a diesel one?
Depending on what country you live in, diesel can be cheaper than petrol (and that in its self is a benefit). The biggest change is no spark plugs, which theoretically means less to go wrong, and cleaner easier starts.
It's probably also more economical.
Modern diesel cars are no different to petrol cars the only difference is the engine revs when changing gear a diesel engine is more powerful so less revs are required to reach the same speed typically in petrol you change gear between four and five thousand revs in a diesel it is between three and four thousand revs apart from that there is no difference in performance
To you as a driver, there will be very few noticeable differences.
A diesel engine creates tremendous amount of torque. Torque is what you feel when you really accelerate fast, that force that pushes you back in the seat.
Also a diesel engine works a lot slower then petrol does. If the transmission in the diesel you bought is a manual, you will notice the Tachometer or RPM gauge does not go high at all usually tops out around 4000 rpm. So shifting can be done sooner. But if you purchased an automatic transmission, no worries as it shifts for you.
Other then that, there really is no difference or added precautions in the way the two cars would drive, or care for.
Its always a good idea to leave a diesel warm up for a minute before driving.
Last year, I had my first diesel car after 40 years of petrol engines. Diesel engine cars have come an awfully long way in the last 15 years, in performance and technology. I find a diesel engine to be more noisy and certainly less refined overall but the diesel engine does offer me tireless performance, a lot more available torque and therefore less gear changes and a great economy. And I don't notice if I have four passengers! Plus, switching on the Aircon does not seem to slow everything down like it did with the petrol engine!
No difference; only you have to change habit of getting high pickup of petrol in low speed. In diesel pickup is less.

I'm getting a car for graduation. How long do I have to get the car registered and insured?
I live on my own and don't have insurance through my parents so I need to know how long I have to register my car and get it insured. I live in Colorado. I have a permit and just need to find time to take my drive test for my license. And is there anything else I need to get done before my car is legally driveable? Thanks in advance for answers.
I'm getting a car for graduation. How long do I have to get the car registered and insured?
you never have to register and insure it...you have forever....but if you want to drive it....callDMV and insurance right away
I'm getting a car for graduation. How long do I have to get the car registered and insured?
3 years
10 days to transfer title. You should have insurance as soon as you take possession of the vehicle
You can take as long as you'd like, providing you don't drive it without insurance and registration. And of course, you can't get it registered without insurance, and you can't get insurance without a license. A permit won't do it.
basically you can't use it to get your license unless you put it in your parent's name and let them insure it.
Whatever car you are using to practice driving would be the best one to take the test in, you are used to it. Once you have your full license, get insurance on your car, then go with the insurance card and title to the DMV to get tags for it, and then you will be legal.
You have to have it registered and insured before you can legally operate it on public rights of way.

How does a car qualify to be eligble for classic car insurance in the UK?
Are there specific companies that deal in this? Is it generally cheaper due to restrictions on the use of the car?
How does a car qualify to be eligble for classic car insurance in the UK?
There are a number of companies which have a %26quot;classic%26quot; car insurance scheme.
It varies according to the company and there is no set eligibility for insurance.
These policies are generally cheaper but put restrictions on mileage etc.
For vehicle tax purposes it used to be 25 years but this government changed it and now I believe only cars registered before 1973 are exempt.
(not sure on the date it is 73 or 74 I think)
How does a car qualify to be eligble for classic car insurance in the UK?
Cars registered before 1973 are deemed to be 'classics' for road tax purposes.
insurance companies who specialise in classic car insurance such as http://www.car-insurance.tv usually set the limit at ten years although it varys by specialist scheme
Im not too sure what you mean but when i worked in the post office a car was classified as classic and eligible for free road tax when it was 30 years old, dont know if thats the same for insurance...
in Ireland its 21 years is a classic and 30 years is a vintage, yes there some insurance companies who deal with classic and vintage. but most will quote . to tax in Ireland I think it's 40 euro a year and less than 400 euro to Insurance if you already have insurance on another car.
If you're over 25 years old and your car is standard build, over 15 years old and you do less than 7,500 miles a year, - the AA
Manufactured at least 15 years ago as a standard production model (20 years for some vehicle makes, eg Porsche)
The annual mileage must not exceed 7,500 miles Must be used as a second car, - the RAC
most places say about 15 years old or more so if u got a car thats 1994 or older u should b okay
It all depends on the insurance company. Yes there are many insurance providers that specialise in older vehicles. Yes you may be restricted to a mileage limit and specific uses. Try different firms to compare their terms and conditions.
Drama Queen is right as far as many insurance brokers go - They class a vehicle as a classic at 30 years of age..
This can mean you can get some very dubious classics!
Classic car insurance usually restricts your mileage massively, typically to 4,000 per year. It is however very cheap! Specific companies include Adrian Flux, Footman James and Lancaster. My father in law has used Footman James and has always been happy with their service
autoinsurance.hotusa.org - try this one. I have their car insurance and, as I know, they can provide such a service.
Insurance costs are decided by the providers. They use various criteria in working out how much to charge. The cost of the tax disc is fixed by the government.

What to tell car insurance agent to get lowest possible insurance?
Hello, my son (20 years old) is about to buy a used car and I am trying to add him to our policy. The agent says he's gonna ask some questions about how he will use it. Obviously he'll use my answers to these questions to price the insurance for the new (used) car.
What are somethings I can say that will get me the lowest insurance? Thanks!
What to tell car insurance agent to get lowest possible insurance?
If he is only going to be using it for short commutes to work/school, you may see a reduction in rates. Either way, it won't really change the rate much. It's based off of age/sex/driving record/car type.
What to tell car insurance agent to get lowest possible insurance?
What the HECK good, is %26quot;the lowest insurance%26quot;, when the claim gets denied because you lied to them about something?
Tell them the truth. There IS not going to be cheap coverage, for a 20 year old with his own car. And if you put a car titled in his name, on YOUR policy, then that, also, is going to create a coverage issue.
Everyone I've ever heard, squawking about insurance companies screwing them over, were trying to outsmart the insurance companies to get a %26quot;lower rate%26quot;, and then got caught. Don't screw yourself. Be honest, so that you've got COVERAGE.
Well, since you want him to actually be covered, you simply tell him the truth!
If you lie and say it will only be driven to and from work, then your son kills someone on a trip out of state, you will probably not be covered and it would be fraud.
The simple answer is: Tell him the truth.
Basically, you are asking how to lie correctly to get a cheaper rate than you should. Who do you think answers these insurance questions? We are all probably professionals.
On that note, the only questions your son will be asked would be about usage of the vehicle. For instance, if your son is delivering pizzas and fails to mention it, they would try to deny coverage for material misrepresentation.
You should really have your son get his pwn policy at his age. This way, if he causes a serious accident, your assets would not be jeopardized.msdn xp

How do you test a car alternator do see if it is working properply with battery cables?
Okay, this mechanic told me a long time ago, but I kind of forgot. But he said that you could connect battery cables to both cars. He said that if you removed the negative (I am not sure) from one of the cars. It would give you a indication if the alternator was good. If the car in question alternator kind running after you removed the negative lead. It is good, but if it dies out, then the alternator is no good. But I just need some clarity. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
How do you test a car alternator do see if it is working properply with battery cables?
At best, that method seems a little %26quot;hit or miss%26quot;, no matter what the age of the car. Even with a bad alternator, the jumped car might or might not stop running when the jumper cable is removed, depending on how low the battery is.
The simplest way to see if your alternator is working is to use a multimeter ($30 or less) to test the voltage across the battery terminals. It should be about 14.5 volts with the engine running, and a little over 12 with it off. If it's the same with the engine on or off, the charging system isn't working. It might be bad connections, but it's almost always the alternator.
How do you test a car alternator do see if it is working properply with battery cables?
That was a trick used on old pre computerized automobiles. Removing the pos battery cable while car was running and if car stayed running alternator was fine. HOWEVER..... Modern electronically controlled vehicles should never be tested like this. You run the risk of damaging certain electronic devices by performing this test.
How old of a car are you talking about? 50's or 60's? Don't do it on a car made after 1981 or so or you may cause damage. Just take it to the parts store and get it tested for free.
Once you jump start the car and it is running, disconnect the jumper cables. if it stays running after removing jumper cables then remove positive cable from battery. If it dies at any time , most likely it is your alternator.
Like the others said Dont do it on a newer car!
you don,t want to do that on theses new cars today.
if your alternator wasn't working your battery light would be on in the dash.
check the voltage on the battery before you start the car with a dc volt tester(should be between 11-12 volts) start the car and check the battery voltage again with rpms at about 2000 battery should show 13-15 volts if it charging. As others have said removing cables while running can damage some vehicles

How to remove fabric stains from the car seat?
I bought a new car a couple of months back. The interiors of the car is light ivory color. The other day my friend wore a brand new dress and came with me in the car. Her dress was pink in color. After we got down I noticed that the pink dress left some fabric stains on the car seat. And now the seat is pink in color. I have no idea what to do. Can anyone suggest anything on this please.
Thank you.
How to remove fabric stains from the car seat?
Oxy Clean.
Try it in an area where it won't be noticed if the dye of the seat fabric comes out. This should work for you though.
How to remove fabric stains from the car seat?
The best product to use is RESOLVE carpet cleaner. It will remove tough stains. Test Resolve in an area of you seats that will be less noticeable in case it fades the seat color first.
You might want to try Rit Dye Remover before you do anything else, as it is fabric dye. Anything else might set the stain in. (and do try it on an inconspicuous area first- we don't want it to take the ivory off as well) And tell your friend to wash her clothes before wearing them! If the dye runs, use vinegar in the water to set the dye.
Rent a steam cleaner. I rent one twice a year to keep my interior in tip top shape. They work. You can rent one at your local grocery or hardware store.
Thank you.
